This blog post originally appears on our job board blog at Online Teacher Jobs.

The dandelion is the official flower of the military child.

Did you know that April is the Month of the Military Child? According the Department of Defense, “Military families move on average every two to three years, impacting military children through changing schools and support networks.” Just like their children, military spouses are impacted and make many sacrifices. They face higher employment rates than their civilian counterparts.

Finding employment can be difficult for military spouses with gaps in between years on their resume due to new duty stations. Thankfully, many job placement resources such as VetJobs and Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) exist to support military spouses and veterans in finding a job.

I think online teaching is one of the best jobs for military spouses because you can virtually teach anywhere in any state and in many countries as long as there is stable Internet connection. There is no resignation every 2-3 years because you are able to take your classroom with you! There is also a lot of flexible hours in online teaching.

Teachers are required to have a bachelor’s degree with a state certification in their subject area. You may be offered to teach in states that you are not certified in. For example, if you hold a California teaching credential and was offered programs in Texas that requires you to hold a Texas teaching certificate. Elevate will pay for reciprocity application costs for you to apply for a Texas teaching certificate.
