13 Digital Montessori Materials and Resources for Your Online Classroom

There are so many advantages to Montessori materials:

  • They span across multiple age ranges/grades.
  • Can be used and extended in various ways.
  • They are cross-curricular.

A common misconception is that Montessori materials are not accessible, but they are! Montessori materials can be found everywhere and made from home. Whether you are an online or home educator, or even curious about Montessori, digital Montessori materials are a great compliment to any classroom curriculum.

Here are my top 10 digital Montessori materials that can be used in your online classroom:

Free!

Pocket Montessori– Offers a collection of digital math materials as well as video lessons to support online and home educators with presenting each lesson. Pocket Montessori also includes a Moveable Alphabet material with the options of print and cursive. There is also a botanical zen adventure game. These materials are best used on a computer or tablet. (Be sure to buy the creators a coffee so that we can get more materials!)

Jakarta Montessori School Virtual Materials– If you are looking for additional math materials that are not offered in the above sites, Jakarta Montessori materials include Bead Stair, Addition & Subtraction Snake Games, Addition & Subtraction Stripboards.

Virtual Montessori– This free resource offers two activities; grammar symbols and fraction box.

Cost effective

Mobile Montessori– offers varies apps for children as young as 2.5 to 6 years old. They offer 7 day free trial. You can buy their classroom version, the Montessori Classroom app which includes 1,000+ activities in math, language, geography, and science for $69.99. You can also buy individual lessons. Apps are available in the Apple store, Google Play, and the Amazon app store.

The Modern Montessori Guide– If you are looking for Google Slides materials for Google Classroom, the Modern Montessori Guide offers digital materials that with a “contemporary style” and supports various academic needs.

Boom cards

Boom Learning is an online platform where students practice on various lessons using Boom Cards. Boom Cards are fun, interactive digital task cards that are self-checking. Students can practice with them numerous times. Boom cards (or boom decks) can be accessed through the website via a computer or via a tablet. This platform offers a free Basic account to a Publishers account which allows you to create and sell your own boom cards.

There are many free materials and some as low as $1 and under. Every deck has a free playable preview before purchase. You can buy Boom Cards directly through their website or on TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers).
